We farewelled the Cuban ambassador, Maria del Carmen Herrera Caseiro at a dinner in Blackball and presented her with a gift of local craft. We noted the close relations that have developed between the Museum and Cuba, with ambassadors opening the Museum and Maria participating in several events.
Maria replied that Blackball and Cuba have a special relationship because of their respective working class roots. She presented Museum curator, Paul Maunder with a letter of thanks from the families of the Cuban Five. in acknowledgement of the exhibitions of paintings and cartoons that the Museum has exhibited.
